Authors planning on submitting work to AMP are advised to familiarize themselves with the mission statement, available on the AMP home page
As we are in a transition period, we are still willing to consider work under the old mission, that is consolidations and extensions of scholarly debates, with a theory and policy significance.
The submission must be typed using a twelve-point Times New Roman font, with margins of at least one-inch. As a general guide, your paper should be about 25–30 double-spaced pages, excluding references, tables, and figures. Authors should supply a separate cover sheet with the names and complete contact information for the primary author and any coauthors. Author names should not appear elsewhere in the manuscript.
Instead of endnotes, APA Style calls for in-text citations with references at the end of the manuscript. In-text references should read as follows:
In a recent study of reaction times (Walker, 2001)
Walker (2001) compared reaction times
In 2001, Walker compared reaction times
Past research (Smith, Corbin, & Gogel, 1985) has shown

Tables and figures can enhance both the reader's understanding of information and the efficiency of its presentation. But just as too many overhead slides can ruin an oral presentation, too many figures and tables can detract from the overall narrative. Thus we encourage the judicious use of tables and figures and we discourage their overuse. The proper construction of tables and figures is a detailed craft, so in preparing them for your manuscript, please follow the detailed instructions presented in the styles guide which is published in the first issue each year.
AMP is published in February, May, August, and November. Generally, manuscripts are reviewed by the Editor and then sent to an Associate Editor to solicit two blind reviews. A manuscript may be returned without blind review if judged to be inappropriate for publication in AMP.
Contributors should follow the Instructions for Electronic Submission found here.

AMP also publishes Exchanges. Exchanges are responses to published articles, and responses to those responses. The feature will be available in the Dynamic and Print Editions of the journal. Exchanges should not exceed 15 (double-spaced) pages, including references.
Exchanges are meant to continue the conversation. Exchanges should be written in a tone that is conversational and analytical, not argumentative. Exchanges are not meant to be soapboxes for the airing of grievances. Tone matters. The reason for an Exchange can be a different point of view that furthers the conversation by providing new insights, questions, suggestions, and directions that guide or motivate more inquiry. Exchanges can raise other theoretical perspectives, compelling empirical evidence, or logics not considered in the original article that helps readers view the article differently. Sometimes, a reviewer of an article might turn in a review of such insight that it materially adds to the conversation. At the discretion of the editor and with permission of the reviewer, such a review might be published as an Exchange.
Exchanges are editorially reviewed and should be submitted under the Manuscript type “Exchange” in Manuscript Central. Exchanges can be solicited or unsolicited. When submitting an Exchange, please reference the article to which you are responding in the title. The editors may send your contribution to the author of the original article for a response, not as reviewer but as a colleague, to further the conversation.
When authors submit their manuscript to AMP for publication consideration, they agree to abide by AMP’s publication requirements. Specifically, an author must:
Submission of a manuscript to the AMP also carries an implicit quid pro quo: willingness to review for AMP. The cornerstone of the editorial process at AMP is the willingness of colleagues to provide each other feedback through peer review. Authors who submit manuscripts to AMP for review are expected to reciprocate by reviewing for AMP if called upon to do so.
Any submission to AMP should be prepared according to the AMP Style Guide for Authors, but authors should omit the title page for the purpose of uploading onto the web-based submission system. This file for articles must contain a detailed 200-word abstract and must start on page 1 (except for dialogue submissions, as they do not include abstracts) and all end materials such as appendices, references, tables, and figures. The submission must be typed using a twelve-point Times New Roman font, with margins of at least one-inch. As a general guide, your paper should be about 25–30 double-spaced pages, excluding references, tables, and figures.
To submit a manuscript, first ensure that you have a Word file from which the title page and that all author-identifying references have been removed. Then go to the website at Manuscript Central and follow the directions. Acknowledgments of others' help in preparing the paper for submission should be included in the letter to the editor that is featured as part of the web-based submission process.
Follow the instructions for the web-based submission system at Manuscript Central, making sure you have a manuscript Word file that has no title page or other identifying information on it.
